![]() Bonnie Chambers Madison has been my home since the mid 1980s. My childhood and teen years were spent in the Green Bay area. I then sprouted my wings, moved, and lived in numerous states before coming back to Wisconsin and settling in Madison.
Enjoying art has been part of my life for many years. My first art classes were taken at the University of Wisconsin in Platteville. I started with pen and ink, graphite and charcoal, then moved on to watercolors, taking classes at MATC and the UW in Madison. I continue to take art classes whenever I can and incorporate mixed media into many of my watercolors. This past summer (2011), I took some classes in bookmaking and papermaking and found I could incorporate my art and skills into handmade books and journals.
I find painting with watercolors to be challenging, rewarding, captivating, relaxing, and just enjoyable. There is a serene, calming feeling when painting and I attempt to communicate this to the viewer. I love to travel and take many pictures for future references and paintings. I paint from both sketches and photographs.
Over the years, I have shown at local galleries along with being active in several local artist groups, including Wisconsin Regional Artists Association, Madison Art Guild, Madison Area Open Arts Studios and Parallel Lives, Divergent Views.
