Gordon P. Hanson

A photographer for more than 35 years, I use my camera to record moments of energy around me. My camera provides me with a vehicle that intensify my connection to the moment in which I find myself. I especially like being in and photographing nature. I am currently hiking the Appalachian Trail in sections and recording the journey as it unfolds along its 2175 miles.

In representing my images to the public, I've chosen to experiment with my photo finishing. Over the years several people have commented that my photos look like paintings. I was intrigued by the possibilities. Currently my intent is to blur the distinction between a photo and a painting. To accomplish this, I adhere my photos to a stretched canvas and finish off the picture to look as if they are a painting. I continue to experiment with this technique.
